Representatives of the Institute and the Archive visit Yad Vashem

Jerusalem: The establishment of official ties and the preparation of further measures for mutual cooperation were the main reasons for a visit by the director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes Daniel Herman, the director of the Security Services Archive Jana Poddaná, the director’s adviser Pavel Žáček, and the Institute’s external relations coordinator Neela Winkelman-Heyrovská to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. The guests were also accompanied by the Czech ambassador to Israel Tomáš Pojar.

The Czech delegation was welcomed by Yad Vashem’s senior management, led by the chairman of the directorate Avner Shalev and the director of the archives division Haim Gertner. The guests were shown a modern exhibition devoted to the memory of six million murdered Jews. In the archives, the members of the delegation also examined materials concerning the fates of exterminated Jews who came from the former Czechoslovakia.

The representatives of Yad Vashem, the Institute and the Archive discussed giving concrete expression to their cooperation in research and archive work. The next step will comprise a visit by representatives of the Yad Vashem archives to the Institute and the Archive in Prague, starting with the director of the methodology section, and then followed by the director of Yad Vashem’s archives Haim Gertner.
