Swedish MP and embassy representative pay a visit to the Institute and the Archive
Prague, 7 June 2010 — On Monday, 7 June, the Swedish MP Hans Wallmark paid a visit to the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Security Services Archive in the company of the Counsellor of the Swedish Embassy in Prague Rolf Ericsson.
Hans Wallmark was received by the Institute’s Deputy Director Jaromír Kalus and the director of the Security Services Archive Ladislav Bukovszky. Mr Kalus informed Mr Wallmark of the history behind the establishment of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Security Services Archive. He also told him about the current work of this institute. During their discussions, Mr Kalus pointed out that the Institute not only deals with the history of communist Czechoslovakia, but also with this country’s period of Nazi occupation. The director of the Archive Mr Bukovszky then provided information on the quantity and structure of this institution’s collections of documents. After a brief talk, both guests inspected one of the depositories of the Security Services Archive in the building on Siwiecova Street and also visited its research centre. The last stop on the Swedish delegation’s tour was the digitization department, where the guests were acquainted with the means used to convert archive
„It was all very encouraging. I had already heard about the institute, not just here, but also in other European countries, and I am glad that I could see with my own eyes how the work is carried out,“ said Mr. Wallmark.
