Personnel files from the Ministry of Justice – OVO
In 1974, within the scope of the Corrective Education Corps Directorate, a department of internal protection was established. This department became in 1983 the Section of Internal Protection (Odbor vnitřní ochrany – OVO). The responsibility of its staff was the counterintelligence elaboration of imprisoned persons, the recruiting from among them secret collaborators with the goal of preventing the disturbance of internal order (run-aways, uprisings, violence, larceny, self-harm), and the obtaining of information about the behavior of political prisoners. Personnel files of servicemen of the Section of Internal Protection of the Corrective Education Corps (OVO) were assumed in 2008 from the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic (Prison Services). They comprise 3.6 running meters (82 files).
